All That Remains

Dr. Paul Takashi Nagai

You never know when a hobby will lead to something unexpected and most welcome.  Readers know I’m into Asian art films, videos, art, history, the War in the Pacific, etc.  Last week I received an email from Ian Higgens of Major Oak Entertainment with great news: he and his brother are making a film about the great Dr. Takashi Nagai whom I wrote about in two web posts in spring of 2010.

Those posts are: Dr. Takashi Nagai: A Song for Nagasaki and The Way of Reparation. Take a look at them if you don’t know anything about a 20th century Japanese man who very well may be raised to the altars some day.

Ian wrote to me:

All That Remains is a remarkable true story of the power of faith which will utilize state of the art special effects, live-action dramatic reconstructions and computer generated animation, alongside candid and intimate interviews with friends and family of Dr. Nagai, as well as other survivors of the atomic bombing, in order to take our audience on a personal journey alongside Dr. Nagai, as he embarks on his life changing quest for “the ultimate truth”.

We have some amazing people on board, helping us to tell his story, including the University of Nagasaki, his grace Archbishop Joseph Mitsuaki Takami and Fr. Paul Glynn, author of the acclaimed biography on Dr. Nagai, “A Song for Nagasaki”.

But we are also offering the opportunity for other Christians to get involved and help us make this film, the people who understand the power of faith, the people who want films that hold meaning for them.

I exchanged a few emails with Ian whose company is located in the heart of England near Shakespeare country, and based on our correspondence I believe this project is in excellent hands.  He and his brother did a great job with Finding Fatima (official trailer link) and The 13th Day (official trailer link) and I expect even better with All That Remains.

If you’d like to help with bringing this film to the public, visit their Phase 2 production site at http://www.indiegogo.com/All-That-Remains-Phase-2.  Independent film makers are out there who make junk and encourage depravity.  These film makers are bringing true stories of inspiration and holiness to the world.  I’m praying for their success so the world will come to know yet another convert, true holy man, and hero – a role model for every Christian.

  3. I’m excited about it, too. They are raising money now for a trip to Japan to complete some shooting. Wish I had some to give.
